European Champions back to work

A little less than three months after winning its fourth Champions League, obtained on 5 May in Antalya (Turkey), Itas Trentino men's team met this afternoon to begin preparation for the 2024/25 season, which will see it involved in at least three other competitions in addition to the SuperLega (Supercoppa, CEV Cup and Club World Championship).
With seven weeks to go before the official debut (scheduled for 21 September in Florence, for the Supercoppa semifinal against Monza), the European Champion team officially began its training programme today, which, at least initially, will be characterised by the presence in the gym of only six of the fourteen players in the new roster. The other eight are currently playing with their respective national teams: either at the Paris Olympics (Flavio, Kozamernik, Laurenzano, Lavia, Michieletto and Sbertoli) or in dedicated training camps (Bristot with the Italian Under-20 team and Gabi Garcia with the USA).
So, to answer coach Fabio Soli's first summons to Trento's Sanbapolis gym (the central court of the ilT quotidiano Arena will only be available from the end of August) there were familiar faces such as setter Alessandro Acquarone, spiker Giulio Magalini, opposite Kamil Rychlicki, and middle blocker Marco Pellacani (promoted from the youth team), and the new entries of Nicola Pesaresi (libero) and Bela Bartha (middle blocker).
From Monday, 5 August, five of the most interesting prospects from the youth sector, who will then play in the Serie B championship with UniTrento Volley, will train with the yellow-blue team: setter Spagnolli, middle blockers Sandu and Frassanella, and spikers Boschini and Giani. The technical and medical staff is already confirmed in its entirety, unlike the previous season; to ensure that the work of the yellow-blue team proceeds in the best possible way there will once again be Team Manager Riccardo Michieletto, in his twentieth season between the court and the desk in Trentino Volley, Assistant Coach Adriano Di Pinto, scouts Fabio Dalla Fina and Stefano Coser, athletic trainer Lorenzo Barbieri, physiotherapist Luca Pirani and team doctor Mauro Bertoluzza. Also with them is nutritionist Alfonso Presutto, who had already begun his fruitful collaboration with the club in the second half of last year.
The programme for the first week (very short, it will end on Saturday, 3 August) includes a double work session both on Friday (exercises in the pool in the morning, session with ball in the afternoon on the BIG Camp beach courts, in Monte Bondone), and on Saturday (weights in the morning at the ilT quotidiano Arena, technique in the afternoon at the Sanbapolis gym), before a rest Sunday.
The (provisional) calendar of friendlies has also been finalised, which, at the moment, includes four matches starting in September when the roster will have recovered all its members: 7 September in Rovereto against Innsbruck, 11 September in Schio against Piacenza, and then 14 and 15 September in Montichiari for a quadrangular with Modena, Verona, and Piacenza.
